Premashram Special School For Intellectually Disabled
Prem Ashram is a model school for children with Intellectual Disability and multiple disabilities with residential facilities, situated in the district town of Una, Himachal Pradesh. It was started in the year 1971 on a 2.5 acre leased land given by Baba Sahib Singh Bedi, a renowned religious leader of the time, the 11th descendent of Guru Nanak.
The sisters began the work with a lone child, who was the grandson of the donor of the land. In the year 1973 another building was erected with the help of MEMISA of Holland to cater for more children. Later on with the help of many donors and financial assistance from the Generalate, we were able to put up boys hostel. With this setup, we are able to respond to more children to provide special care and Training to the intellectually challenged regardless of caste, creed and gender difference.
Our Founder
Congregation of the sisters of charity of Jesus & Mary (SCJM), a religious organization founded by Rev. Fr. Peter Joseph Triest in Belgium in the year 1803 and established in Dalhousie (H.P.) in 1901 is commissioned to reveal that God is love. The sisters value the ministry of education, of helping individuals to discover their dignity as human persons and children of God and of bringing about a society based on love, justice and peace, to be an important expression of their mission.Special Education for the Mentally Challenged children occupies a unique place in the larger vision and mission of the congregation. Following the footsteps of their founder, Fr. Peter Joseph Triest, who had a special concern for the mentally challenged children of his time, the SCJMs continue to respond to the needs of the mentally challenged and multiple handicapped children with a total commitment and devotion.

Every human being is a reflection of the Divine. I feel proud to be part of A HOME OF LOVE - PREM ASHRAM which aims at promoting the value of human life and dignity of Special Children who are differently abled. Being with them, I am touched by their innocence, love, affection, forgiveness, patience, tolerance etc. The spark of the Divine Light in them calls me to understand and care for them with tenderness and love. When I listen to the parents of these children their pain and struggle become mine and I am all the more motivated to love and serve them with dedication and commitment. I realize that their parents too are precious pearls with their own brokenness, in need of our love and understanding.

An Appeal For Financial Help
Prem Ashram,Una has completed 53years of service to the Children With Special Needs, one of the
most
neglected section of the society , and yet it is not financially self –reliant . Hence we appeal to the
generosity of those who are blessed with financial resources to help us create an endowment fund , and thus
enable us to continue this noble mission. Contributions to this effect is exempted from income tax Vide
US/80G
of income Tax Act 1961.
Donation & gifts :We accept donations, gifts and materials related to School activities and hostel.
Anyone can contribute and extend their continuous support towards our Children with intellectually impaired
studying in our School and hostel. We are transparent to produce all necessary certificates and documents to
smoothen your philanthropic support for our Special kids.
